On 18th of April, Docudays UA team will present a catalog of Ukrainian documentary films at one of the largest European documentary film festivals – Vision du reel.

Docudays UA is continuously supporting the projects by Ukrainian filmmakers. Every new issue of the catalog presents an opportunity for Ukrainian films (at any stage of production) to get to the large, influential festivals, and into international distribution. For instance, UKRAINIAN DOCS (the Docudays UA presentation in Nyon) will be attended by the international producers, representatives of cinema foundations, and program selectors, who are interested in Ukrainian films.

“Besides featuring the best European documentary films In Ukraine, we are actively engaged in the promotion of Ukrainian cinema abroad”, says the festival program coordinator Darya Bassel. “For a couple of years now, we’ve been producing the catalog of Ukrainian documentary films with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine, and distributing it at the international film festivals. Last year, we presented it at DOKLeipzig, and this year opens with the catalog presentation at one of the most interesting European festivals. Visions du reel is renowned for screening and active support of the authors’, experimental documentaries. The industry representatives from Germany, Poland, Canada, Taiwan, the US, etc. attend this festival. We will tell them about the new Ukrainian films and introduce them to the Ukrainian filmmakers and producers who will also visit the festival”.

During the presentation in Nyon, the viewers and guests will have a chance to talk to the authors of the Ukrainian films that will be presented at this year’s Vision du reel. Among these filmmakers, there are director Vadym Ilkov (his first full-length movie “Father is Mother’s Brother” will compete for the main festival award in the international competition program), director Semen Mozgovy (the festival market will feature his work “Story of the Winter Garden”, the short version of which took part in last year’s Docudays UA national competition). Filmmaker Oleksandra Chupryna – the creator of the movie “Pearl of Absurd” - will take part in the workshop dedicated to interactive documentaries.

The UKRAINIAN DOCS presentation will take place on April 18th, from 6.30 until 7.30 PM, at the festival space Village du Réel – The Factory. Viktoria Leshchenko and Darya Bassel, the program coordinators of Docudays UA, will present the catalog on behalf of the festival.
